Changes at the Library

Did you know that the library has a downstairs? Did you know that we have been fundraising to renovate and make that space ship-shape for you to use? Did you know that it is almost ready?

Yes, it’s true. The Library downstairs is almost open for business.

Currently, you may ask a Librarian to retrieve any nonfiction material that is downstairs and we will be happy to do just that. Soon, you will be able to browse this part of the collection yourself.

What’s taken so long you may ask? Well, the simple answer is old buildings always hold surprises — like asbestos, sprinklers that aren’t in the right spots, contractor’s schedules, busy librarians, the list goes on and on, so I’ll stop there.

Don’t worry, you’ll know when downstairs is open — maybe we’ll even have cake and ice cream to celebrate!

Downstairs is not the only space getting a makeover. The main level of the library is also going to start looking different. Most of the changes you will see are directly connected to the downstairs renovation. We need those shelves downstairs so we don’t have stack the books on the floor. The changes to the main level will allow us to offer more programming, more space for our beloved laptop users, and some much needed breathing room.

Come visit, things are looking good!
