How do I get a library card?

To have a library card at the Canaan Town Library you must live or own property in one of the five towns in the Mascoma Valley Regional School District (Canaan, Dorchester, Enfield, Grafton, or Orange).

If you do, we ask that you provide your mailing address, and a physical address if they are different, a phone number, and an email address if you would rather be contacted by email, or receive our newsletter.

We will also need a valid photo id, and if your photo id does not have your current address, a piece of mail that has been sent to you at your current address.

You must be 14 years old or older to sign for your own library card. If you are younger than 14, a parent or guardian must also sign for your library card. Until you are in 2nd grade, you will be able to take out library materials on your parent’s/guardian’s card.

Currently, we are happy to create your library card through an email exchange. Please send the above requested information to circulationdesk@canaanlibrary.org and we will contact you with your library card number.

Once you have a library card, you may:
