Welcome to the Canaan Town Library’s Local History Project.
Many thanks to the Kilton Family who generously donated the complete run of The Country Chronicle to the library. The Country Chronicle, edited by Pat Kilton from 1993 through 2003, reported on the happenings of Canaan, Enfield, and surrounding towns.
To provide access to this resource, we have created a database of the obituaries featured in The Country Chronicle. This database is searchable, allowing access to this unique genealogy information.
We also hope to create an index to The Country Chronicle allowing access to even more local history.
Thanks to library volunteer Cheryl Stone for her dogged determination to create each of these database entries.
