Yummmmm
The chocolate demonstration was a success. Although Jason says I misrepresented him by calling him a chocolatier (he would say, chocolate hack), he had everyone licking their lips in no time. The 20 people that attended the program were instructed in how to make chocolate ganache, educated in the different types of chocolate and how to work with them, and pleased with all the samples!
Jason said he would be happy to offer another demonstration, so if you have a type of food or recipe that you would love to know how to make, or maybe make better, let us know.
On a definitely more disappointing note, the library has fallen victim to theft. Someone (or someones) has stolen over 30 DVDS from the library. I hope that these may return (if they are returned to the book drop, no questions will be asked and your anonymity will stay intact), but I am not holding my breath. I wonder if people realize that stealing from the library is still stealing — a felony — and that it is serious. When you steal from the library, you are not just stealing from the people who work at the library, but from every person who lives in Canaan. This may sound extreme, but imagine breaking into 3500 hundred homes, 3500 cars, or mugging 3500 people and taking 3500 wallets.
So now, when you visit the library you will notice that we have had to move the DVDs to the front of the library where we can watch them, and quite honestly, I am angry that we have had to change the way our library runs, to cater to someone who has done something wrong. It is a horrible feeling to wonder who could have done something like this.
I am sadden to think that there are people in our community who can’t be happy with the idea that they can borrow ANY DVD we have for free! If you can use it for free, why on earth do you need to steal?
