The Meetinghouse Readings, Canaan, NH’s grassroots literary series, presents its 38th season of outstanding and emerging voices in fiction, poetry and nonfiction beginning Thursday July 9, 2026.
This year’s series features poets and writers whose work ranges from the avant-garde to the bestseller lists.

Founding moderator William Craig returns to the podium to welcome writers and audience to another season celebrating the written – and spoken — word. As always, the readings in the beautiful 1793 Meetinghouse on Canaan Street Lake forego lectures and Q&A to focus on stories, narratives and poetry read aloud.
Admission is free; homemade refreshments are memorably worthy of generous donations. Authors’ books will be on sale, courtesy of the Norwich Bookstore.
