Canaan Town Library participates in a worldwide Big Library Read eBook Event

Pilot program runs from May 15^th to June 1^st,encourages participants to join global reading of eBook

May 20, 2013 – Canaan Town Library invites the public to take part in the Big Library Read, a pilot program in which libraries worldwide offer a single eBook to their cardholders. The program is designed to unite library patrons from all around the world.

From May 15^th to June 1, 2013, anyone with a valid Canaan Town Library card can borrow the eBook The Four Corners of the Sky by New York Times bestselling author Michael Malone for free from the Library’s website (www.canaanlibrary.org) and read on all major devices, including Kindle^® (in the US) and iPad^®.

Over 7,500 libraries in 10 countries from five continents are participating. Readers are invited to join the book discussion on Twitter using #BigLibraryRead.

New magazines at the library

We have added a few new subscriptions for your reading enjoyment: Seventeen, Sports Illustrated, Backyard Poultry and Grit.

Magazines may be checked out for a week at a time, even the newest issue. If you would rather read your magazines online, check out Online Newstand!

Library Book Sale is almost here!

Saturday, May 11 from 9am-2pm. We have lots of books for this sale including of fiction and mystery in hard cover and paperback, children’s books, and nonfiction titles for both children and adults.

There are LPs, audio books and movies, too!

Hardcovers and all audio/video media are $1.00 each and paperbacks are $0.50.

Our last Pass-The-Book of the season is this Wednesday at 6:05 pm and we are reading The Mystery of the Spanish Shawl by Agatha Christie.

The Basement Bookies also meet this Wednesday at 7:00 pm to discuss the Memory of Running by Ron McLarty.
